Who it is for
Store owners (merchants) on Shopify or BigCommerce, Shopify app companies, and agencies that build for Shopify stores, who want a Shopify developer that has shipped apps to the Shopify App Store.
Problems I solve
- Your store needs a feature that no existing app provides.
- Your checkout needs custom fields, rules, discounts or delivery and payment options.
- Your discount, shipping or payment logic still lives in Shopify Scripts and needs to move to Shopify Functions.
- You sell wholesale on Shopify Plus and need B2B behavior that the built-in features do not cover.
- Products, inventory or orders get out of sync between your store and other stores, marketplaces or systems.
- Your team spends hours on manual store work that an automated workflow could handle.
- Your Amazon listings fall behind your store, and keeping them up to date is manual work.
- You want AI shopping features that answer from your real catalog.
What I build
1. Custom apps and storefront features
- Custom and public Shopify apps with Polaris and App Bridge, on the Admin and Storefront APIs (REST and GraphQL), with webhooks, through to App Store publishing.
- Checkout customization with Checkout UI Extensions and Shopify Functions (discounts, delivery and payment customizations).
- Storefront features with Theme App Extensions and Liquid.
- BigCommerce apps and Multi-Storefront customization on the Catalog, Orders and Checkout APIs, with features that work per storefront.
2. Commerce integrations
- Product, inventory and order sync between stores, suppliers and other systems, with webhooks and background jobs that retry safely.
- Amazon SP-API integrations for listings, variants and images.
- Workflow automation that replaces manual store work, and connections to third-party systems through their APIs.
3. Complex commerce requirements
- Shopify Plus B2B features for wholesale buyers.
- Migrations from Shopify Scripts to Shopify Functions, tested against how each script behaved before switching over.
- Shopify API version updates for public and custom apps: moving to newer API versions, replacing deprecated endpoints and fields, and REST to GraphQL migrations.
- AI shopping features on top of a store’s catalog, see AI engineering.
Evidence
- Five apps on the Shopify App Store, three of them also on BigCommerce, which I contributed to as part of a team: structured data and SEO, real-time product, inventory and order sync between stores, country-based redirects, and fake email detection on orders.
- An Amazon import and sync system on SP-API that keeps listings, variants and images in step between Amazon and e-commerce stores (client work, not public).
- 4+ years building Shopify and BigCommerce apps in Rails and React for US clients (MGLogics, 2021 to 2026).
- ai_shop_assistant: a shopping chat that answers from Shopify’s live Catalog API over MCP, with real products, prices and links.
How a project runs
- Understand the gap. What the store or app needs, and whether a Shopify setting or an existing app already covers it, so you do not pay for code you do not need.
- A written plan. Which APIs, extensions, webhooks and access scopes are involved, and the risks I can see.
- Build on a development store. Small, tested changes you can try before anything touches your live store.
- Launch. Installed on your store, or submitted for App Store review for a public app.
- Support after launch. Fixes and changes as Shopify’s APIs and your store evolve.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the difference between Shopify Functions and Checkout Extensibility?
- Checkout Extensibility is Shopify’s broader approach to customizing checkout. Checkout UI Extensions add supported interface elements, while Shopify Functions customize supported commerce logic, such as discounts and delivery rules. They solve different problems and can be used together where appropriate.
- Can you migrate our Shopify Scripts to Shopify Functions?
- Yes. I review what each script does, rebuild the supported behavior with Shopify Functions, and test the new implementation against the existing behavior before switching over. The approach depends on the script and the Shopify APIs available for its use case.
- Can you build B2B features on Shopify Plus?
- Yes. I work with Shopify’s B2B features on Shopify Plus, such as company accounts, catalogs with custom price lists, quantity rules, volume pricing and payment terms. When the built-in features do not cover your wholesale process, I extend them with custom apps, Shopify Functions and checkout customizations.
- Shopify keeps updating its API. Can you keep our app up to date?
- Yes. Shopify releases API versions quarterly and supports each stable version for a limited period. I help keep public and custom apps up to date by upgrading API versions, replacing deprecated fields and endpoints, moving REST integrations to GraphQL where appropriate, and testing changes before release.
- Can you take over a Shopify app someone else built?
- Yes. I start by reviewing the codebase, API usage, access scopes and webhook handling. Then I can fix bugs, improve reliability or add features through small, tested changes.
- Do you build BigCommerce apps?
- Yes. I build BigCommerce apps and integrations on the Catalog, Orders and Checkout APIs, with webhooks for event-driven updates, through to publishing on the BigCommerce App Marketplace. Three Shopify apps I have worked on are also available on BigCommerce, so I have built commerce features across both platforms.
- Can you customize BigCommerce Multi-Storefront?
- Yes. BigCommerce Multi-Storefront lets one store run several storefronts, for example for different brands, regions or currencies, each with its own catalog, pricing and settings. I build features and integrations that work per storefront through the BigCommerce APIs, and customize each storefront’s theme and behavior.
